Sand Land: The Series Anime Reveals Promo Video and Key Visuals for New Angel Hero Arc

Sand Land: The Series anime has shown a video and pictures for their new part called “The Story of the Angel Hero.” This anime is based on a manga by Akira Toriyama. It started with seven episodes in March. 

These episodes were on Disney+ Star and Hulu. The first six are part of the “The Story of the Fiend Prince” arc. Then, from episode 8 to 13, a new arc begins called “The Story of the Angel Hero.” This part of the story happens in a new place called “Forest Land.” The anime has old and new actors.

New Arc, New Adventures: The Story of the Angel Hero (Tenshi no Yūsha) Arc

The anime started with its first seven episodes showing on Disney+ Star’s STAR Anime Series and Hulu in the U.S. on March 20th. The first six episodes are part of the “The Story of the Fiend Prince” (“Akuma no Ōji”) story. They took scenes from the anime movie and added some new parts. 

Then, starting from episode 8, they will release new episodes every Wednesday until May 1st. These new episodes will start the “The Story of the Angel Hero” (“Tenshi no Yūsha”) story. It is set in a new place called Forest Land, which was thought up by Toriyama himself.

Returning Cast and New Faces

Some actors and team members from the movie are back in their roles for the anime. Notable ones include:

  • Mutsumi Tamura as Beelzebub
  • Kazuhiro Yamaji as Rao
  • Chō as Thief
  • Satoshi Tsuruoka as General Are
  • Nobuo Tobita as General Zau

For the “Tenshi no Yūsha” storyline, two new people are joining the cast:

  • Mikako Komatsu as Anne
  • Ayumu Murase as Muniel

Toshihisa Yokoshima has worked on shows like “Tales of Crestoria: The Wake of Sin and Amanatsu and he is back as the director of the anime series. Hiroshi Koujina is helping out as a direction adviser, using his experience from shows like Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis and The Vampire Dies in No Time. Hayashi Mori is writing the scripts, and Yoshikazu Iwanami is in charge of the sounds. Yūgo Kanno is making the music for the series, bringing his style from famous shows like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders and Psycho-Pass.

Plot Synopsis

In a world ruined by war, Sand Land tells the story of Sheriff Rao. He is searching for a lost lake in a barren place ruled by a mean king. With the help of Beelzebub, the king’s son, and Thief, his helper, Rao goes on a dangerous journey. They encounter dragons, bandits and the king’s strong army along the way.

Besides the anime version, Sand Land has appeared in other types of media. Its anime movie was first shown in Japan in August 2023 and then worldwide at Comic-Con International San Diego in July of the same year. Also, there’s an action game based on the manga coming out for PlayStation, Xbox and PC through Steam on April 26th.

About the Sand Land Manga

The Sand Land manga by Toriyama was first published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000. It’s made up of one book which was released in November 2000. Viz Media takes care of publishing the manga in English.
