In no time, Nikola Jokic has established his dominance in the NBA. From being drafted as a 2nd-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft to winning three MVPs and one Finals MVP title, Jokic deserves all the flowers due to him. In the latest episode of Paul George’s Podcast P, Jokic’s Denver Nuggets teammate DeAndre Jordan explained why he regards the Serbian as the ‘best player he has ever seen.’
DJ arrived in Denver as a free agent after the Nuggets signed him on a one-year contract. He said his first impression of Nikola Jokic was extremely positive, describing the joker as fun, down-to-earth, and hilarious.
Jordan said to Paul George, “Nikola is one of the funniest, underrated guys you’ve ever met. Sometimes, he’s not even trying to be funny. But, he’s like super down-to-earth, family guy and basketball is something that he is really, really f**king good at.”
Over the time at Denver, both Jokic and DJ formed a great bond with each other. DJ even joked about naming himself ‘Jordanovic’ after being exposed to the rich Serbian culture, music, and tradition brought to the locker room by the Joker.
When asked if Jokic was the most talented player he had ever seen, Jordan replied, “1000%.” Adding on to that, he remarked, “Nikola is at his own pace man, that’s the thing about great players.” He went on to compare the Serbian maestro with the great Bill Russell, who had set the benchmark for dominant centers in the league.
Nikola Jokic’s impeccable resume and work ethic testify to his greatness in the league. Earlier, when foreign players were unexpectedly dominant in the NBA, Nikola Jokic broke such stereotypes and set the benchmark for foreign players to have a great impact with their prowesses in the league.
