Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Undergoes Complete Remake

Prince of Persia

A large video game company called Ubisoft is remaking the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time game from the ground up with many changes. This announcement comes after an extended delay and some issues since they are fixing everything that the previous staff created.

Ubisoft first announced the game in 2020 but now that a new team at Ubisoft Montreal is creating it, they aren’t utilising the previous work instead they are beginning from zero. Players expect that this will make the game run more smoothly in the end although it may take longer.

The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake that Ubisoft Montreal decided to forgo the current build was given to it by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. Instead as sources have disclosed the team is hard at work creating an entirely new version of the game.

However instead of following the previous studio’s blueprint which called for them to build upon the current creators decided to completely redesign it. Leaked video also indicates that the game is still in early development with missing textures suggesting a longer development period.

There are reports of major changes and motion-capture sessions for the Sands of Time remake. The updated version also claims to have a “realistic approach” with better physics, animations and graphics than its predecessor.

The main voice actor and Spider-Man voice actor for Marvel’s Spider-Man video games, Yuri Lowenthal, has unexpectedly revealed that he will not be playing the Prince again although being heavily featured in the game’s teaser.

Development at Ubisoft Montreal

When Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was first revealed at Ubisoft Forward in 2020 it faced several challenges from the beginning. Originally scheduled for release in 2021, Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai were given the task of handling the project.

But after facing a lot of criticism for its first trailer Ubisoft decided to hand the project over to seasoned creator Ubisoft Montreal the same company that created the first Sands of Time video game. With no official release date as of yet Ubisoft Montreal developers appear to have decided to scrap the current structure and start over with a new version of the remake.

There is a lot of rumour around an upcoming sequel to Prince of Persia which could have roguelike gameplay even if the release date for the remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is still far off.

According to reports Evil Empire the production company behind Dead Cells is working on this game. Thinking back to Ubisoft’s previous journey into non-traditional third-person action-adventure gaming with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown the publisher may be considering taking the series in new directions.
